About Bee City
Bee City USA and Bee Campus USA work to galvanize communities to sustain pollinators, in particular the more than 3,600 species of native bees in this country, by increasing the abundance of native plants, providing nesting sites, and reducing the use of pesticides. Bee City USA and Bee Campus USA are initiatives of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.
Bee City USA Commitments:
Establish a standing Bee City USA committee.
Create and enhance pollinator habitat on [public and private land by increasing the abundance of native plants and providing nesting sites.
Reduce the use of pesticides.
Host pollinator awareness events.
Incorporate pollinator-conscious practices into city policies and plans.
Publicly acknowledge Bee City USA affiliation with signs.
Maintain an online presence for Bee City USA activities.
Annually apply for renewal and report on the previous year’s activities.
