Capital Trees Wednesday Garden Maintenance

Brief Organizational Description: 
Capital Trees is working to create a greener, more liveable Richmond through the thoughtful planning, planting, and maintenance of public green places.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Assisting with the maintenance of established gardens in Great Ship Lock Park, the Low Line (gardens along the Capital Trail between Great Ship Lock Park and  21st street) and the Low Line Green (Garden at the start of the Capital Trail in Shockoe Bottom)

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Weeding, transplanting, planting

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No previous experience needed.  Tools and instruction provided

Time Commitment:
Minimum 30 minutes, maxiumu 4 hours

Other Information (if applicable):

  • Orientation/training provided on first day of volunteering

  • Attire:  Closed toe shoes required, long pants recommended, dress appropriately for the weather

  • Parking in Great Ship Lock Park and along Dock Street East of the Roundabout

  • Bring plenty of water (no potable water on site)

  • Recommend a hat, sunscreen and bugspray

  • Lavatory on site is a Port a Potty
